Dr. Gregory L. Cohen was born in Austin, Texas, and grew up in Southern California. After completing his Bachelor of Science degree at Stanford University he received his medical doctorate from New York Medical College. He went on to complete his internship at Tucson Medical Center and his ophthalmology residency at the University of Arizona in Tucson where he served as chief resident. He was also awarded the Arizona Ophthalmological Society Resident Research Award twice during his time at the University of Arizona.
After finishing residency, Dr. Cohen spent the next twenty years working as a comprehensive cataract surgeon in Reno, Nevada, and raising his three beautiful daughters. He recently decided to move back to a warmer climate once his children moved out and his wife and he became "empty nesters".
Dr. Cohen has performed over 8,000 cataract surgeries utilizing modern small incision techniques and was involved in over twenty clinical research studies while in Reno including
serving as a Principal Investigator for the recently approved wet macular degeneration injection drug Beovu (brolucizumab). He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Outside of work he enjoys time spent with his family, dogs, golf and playing music. He speaks Spanish as well.
